Charlotte Wedgbury

Occupational Therapist (HCPC Registered)

“I’m Charlotte, an Occupational Therapist with a genuine passion for helping people do the things that matter to them and feel more confident and independent in everyday life.”

I am a qualified Occupational Therapist with more than 14 years’ experience across health and social care. I bring together my occupational therapy knowledge and extensive practical experience in neurological rehabilitation, complex care, dementia, mental health, community rehabilitation and education.

For me, occupational therapy is about much more than completing an assessment or providing an intervention. It is about understanding the person behind the condition: what matters to them, what they enjoy, what they want to achieve and what may be getting in the way of living the life they want.

What I bring to the team
  • Neurology and rehabilitation: I have a particular interest in supporting people living with neurological conditions, acquired brain injuries, and changes in cognition, function or independence.
  • Neurodiversity and sensory needs: As a neurodivergent person myself, I understand many of the challenges that neurodivergent people can experience through both professional knowledge and personal experience. I am passionate about creating inclusive environments and interventions that recognise individual differences in sensory processing, communication and how people experience the world around them.
  • Dementia and complex care: My experience supporting older adults living with dementia and complex health needs has shaped my compassionate, person-centred approach.
  • Community rehabilitation: I have experience in functional and environmental assessment, home visits, equipment recommendations and rehabilitation planning, helping people remain safe and independent within their own environments.
  • Creative and personalised therapy: I love finding creative and practical solutions when the usual approach does not quite fit. I believe therapy should feel meaningful and relevant to the individual, using their interests, strengths and everyday activities to support progress.
  • Inclusive communication and advocacy: I am passionate about ensuring people feel heard, understood and actively involved in decisions about their own lives. I adapt my communication to the individual and advocate for their needs, preferences and strengths to be recognised.
  • Building meaningful relationships: I thrive on developing genuine relationships with individuals, families and colleagues. I bring warmth, positivity and personality to the people I work alongside.
My approach

My experience in neurological rehabilitation has taught me the importance of looking at the whole person, particularly when physical, cognitive, emotional, sensory and behavioural needs overlap.

I take a strengths-based and collaborative approach, working with each person to understand what is meaningful to them and what they would like to change. I naturally focus on what a person can do rather than on what they cannot. I believe progress can look different for everyone and that even the smallest step towards greater confidence or independence is worth celebrating.

I am particularly passionate about helping people rediscover confidence, independence and purpose. This might mean returning to an activity they love, developing new routines, managing the impact of a neurological condition, adapting to life with dementia or doing something independently that they previously thought was no longer possible.

Outside of work, my family, friendships and community are hugely important to me. I enjoy baking and spending time in nature—two activities that allow me to be creative, slow down and reconnect. They also remind me that the everyday things we enjoy can play an important part in our identity, wellbeing and sense of purpose.

Come and meet me

“If you or someone you care about is finding everyday life more difficult because of a neurological condition, dementia, neurodivergence, injury or a change in independence, I would love to help you explore what may be possible. Together, we can find practical and meaningful ways to make everyday life work better for you.”
