About Spinal Manipulation
Physiotherapists are trained to use a variety of techniques including spinal manipulation, joint mobilisation, and soft tissue release, similar to chiropractic care. Physiotherapy and spinal manipulation have overlapping areas of practice and techniques that can be effective in treating many musculoskeletal conditions and sports injuries. It’s not just ‘clicks’ and ‘cracks’. We do more to restore you to a ‘Well Life.
Whilst similar to manual therapy, spinal manipulation techniques are an additional skill, which emphasizes on the importance of spinal and joint alignment, using advanced manual therapy techniques to adjust the body in order to promote healing.
This will/may not be a treatment option if you have one of the following:
- Severe osteoporosis
Conditions which affect the spinal cord - Bone marrow diseases
- Inflammatory conditions – rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis or psoriatic arthritis
- Cancer
- Infections
- Fractures/dislocations
